What is a LIANA bespoke piece?
A piece of jewelry we design together: from your story, your Vedic birth chart and your own ideas. It is made by hand in India, and there is no second one.
It is drawn for your body: where it sits, how it moves when you move. It will be unlike anything you have worn before, because it is about you.
You don't need an occasion. Wanting it is enough. It can also mark a celebration: a wedding, a birth, a year that went well. Or a Tuesday when you simply felt like it.
Who designs it with me?
I do. I'm Melissa, the founder of LIANA. Every design on this site is mine. I learned Vedic astrology in India from two teachers and have practised it for seven years. I have made jewelry with my own hands in Rishikesh, so I know the craft from the bench. From the first email to the finished piece, you speak with me.
How do we design it together?
- You write to me. A few sentences are enough. If you like, send your birth details along. Within two days I reply with a date for our Zoom call. The 88 EUR for the consultation are paid before the call.
- We talk. 45 minutes on Zoom: 30 minutes for you and your chart, 15 minutes for your design ideas. Tell me what you like and what you don't: shapes, stones, how you want to wear it. Bring what you have: a word, a photo, a song, a sketch on a napkin. It is allowed to be fun. It is not a form.
- I draw. After five to seven days you receive your first design as a CAD drawing, together with your price. You don't need to be able to draw. You only need to be able to say what you don't want.
- One revision. Two days after you receive the design, we meet again on Zoom and you tell me what you would like to change. You are welcome to send me your changes by email beforehand. One revision is included before the design goes into production.
- You say yes. Only then is it made, by hand in India, in Jaipur or Rishikesh.
- It comes to you. Insured, with DHL, at no extra shipping cost.
Why Vedic astrology?
Because it gives me a precise language for you. Your birth chart shows where the nine planets of Vedic astrology stood at the moment you were born. I read it like a map: what comes easily to you, what draws you, what you want to make bigger. I look first at where your Venus stands. In Vedic astrology, Venus stands for beauty, pleasure and desire.
The chart predicts nothing, and it promises nothing. And it does not replace your own feeling: if another stone draws you more, we take that one.
For the chart I need your date, time and place of birth. It also works without a birth time: then I use a different system of Vedic astrology. Just send me your date of birth and tell me in your email. I use your birth data only for your design and do not keep it afterwards.
Which stones belong to which planet?
In the Vedic tradition, each of the nine planets has a stone. Together they are called Navaratna, "nine gems":
- Sun: ruby
- Moon: pearl
- Mars: red coral
- Mercury: emerald
- Jupiter: yellow sapphire
- Venus: diamond
- Saturn: blue sapphire
- Rahu: hessonite
- Ketu: cat's eye
These are the nine main stones of Vedic astrology, and they are the ones I work with. This is a very old tradition, not a promise. LIANA does not give stones healing powers.
If you prefer, you can choose your own personal stone instead. It can then take longer, until we have found the right one.
What is a CAD design?
CAD stands for computer-aided design: your piece is drawn in three dimensions on a computer, in its real measurements. You receive images that show it from every side, before any metal is cast.
The moment you see your piece for the first time is the best part of the whole way. When you know how something is made, you wear it differently.
What is it made of?
925 sterling silver, with 22k gold plating if you like, or solid gold in 14k, 18k or 22k. Solid gold, if gold is what you want. That is reason enough.
What does it cost?
The consultation costs 88 EUR and is paid before the Zoom call. If you order your piece, the 88 EUR are deducted from its price.
The price of the piece depends on the material (silver, gold-plated silver or solid gold) and on the size and quality of the stone you choose. A silver ring costs at least 188 EUR. That includes the consultation and insured shipping. You receive your exact price with the CAD design, before anything is made.
How long does it take?
Six to nine weeks, depending on how elaborate the design is and how rare the stone is.
Can I give a bespoke piece as a gift?
Yes. You give the consultation and the design, and the person you give it to creates her piece with me herself. Write to me and we will arrange how.
Can I return it?
No. A piece made to your own design is made only for you and cannot be returned or exchanged. That is why you see the design and the price before anything is made. Your statutory rights for faulty goods remain unaffected.
How do I start?
Write to me and tell me, in a few sentences, what the piece is for.
In the end, something rests on your skin that exists only once. People look twice. So will you.
